Fly
Fishing Nets.
I love being in places where nature outnumbers humans. So, when I was introduced to fly fishing, I was immediately hooked. And since I also love building things, it was only a matter of time until I started making my own nets. I am not an expert by any means, but I am learning and getting better.

The pals edition.
I went on a trip with my friends and we proceeded to catch a bunch of fish that were too large for our nets. So I decided to build some that could handle big fish. The handles are ash, the hoops are black walnut and ash and pearl inlays double as a measuring tape for fewer lies told at camp.

long claw.
This is the largest net I have build to date. It’s a 7’ boat net I build for a charity auction. Black walnut handle, black walnut and butternut hoop.

the prototypes.
These are the first 3 nets I built.
They turned out ok. I use them myself.
They taught me 3 important lessons.
1. You can never have too many wood clamps.
2. Glue is cheap, don’t get conservative.
3. F*ck besswax finish.

Paradise.
“This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on seas and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.”
- John Muir
